Do 3 things during this period of time:
- Tell the world that you have been retrenched
Post it on social media and increase the opportunities for someone to reach out to you, at the moment they may be seeking out talent.
- Do your Math on how long you and your family can last financially
Be realistic and look into cutting or delaying spending. Cars, holidays, restaurants, gadgets etc. But keep the essentials like tuition for the kids, medications, and checkup for the old folks etc.
- Temp Job, Full Time Job, Own Job
Be open to temp jobs as retrenchment will continue and more talents be out in the market.
Be ready to accept that not everyone will want to hire you despite your experience in the industry. Industry changes, knowledge upgraded, and automation tools are replacing routine tasks.
Be prepared to start your own business, tapping into your experience and knowledge that can fill the gaps, where others are willing to pay for it.
