Phone

WhatsApp, Telegram, Line, Zoom…I am surrounded by all these communication apps to correspond with clients and peers and I believe I am not alone to rely on all these to communicate with everyone.

Sometimes, we are not just managing one task but many at the same time, that we can get distracted easily and sent out messages that may otherwise don’t truly reflect the intentions.

Every communication with a client is important.

There may be thousands of things racing through your head to resolve and burst to send texts out seem to be the easiest and fastest method but nothing beats calling the other party directly if you can.

It is more personal, effective and efficient to clarify matters on hand.

You can build a stronger relationship when you can hear and understand better what the other parties are trying to communicate with you rather than mixed with a bunch of ‘texts' or even emoticons.

You also get a faster reply and build a real connection and minimize misunderstanding too.

  • Text over when is the best time to talk but don’t do it during meals time
  • Invest in a good earpiece (look for one with good ANC but it may still not drown out all the noise)
  • Run through what is the objective of this call
  • What is the outcome that both parties be trying to achieve
  • Find a quiet place where you can pace yourself to bring the message across
  • Send a summary of what was discussed via an email to ensure that all parties are in the same understanding too
