Payment

Everything needs money when running a business, from the office rental to paying salaries. You need at least 6 months of cash to continue to run your business.

In many cases, when businesses hit the wall is usually because the clients are not paying when is due. And this is also how business dies within the first 12 months too.

Bad clients may give all kinds of excuses that the boss is not around to sign off the cheque, bank transfer didn’t go through, service not entirely delivered therefore they felt is their right to withhold payment.

Go to their office and wait it out and at the boss's house if needed. There is nothing to be shy about or that if will annoy the clients too.

For new clients, get a deposit before starting work. Insist on it or walk away. Volunteer work will not cover your expenses.

All salesman must be responsible to collect payment before any commissions are released too. Start this practice as early as possible to have this ingrained into everyone when engaging any potential clients.

Cash is king, nothing else matters.
