Investment (Linkedin)

What are the chances that you will invest in a startup just because the founder sent you a private message on Linkedin? Usually is Zero.

Rarely, do I know of any friends who will just invest in one just based on that or even get excited over it. More than likely, if it is too good to be good, it is too good to be true. So why are folks still doing that?

And that is where the real messages get mixed up with those who mass spam to everyone, anyone that the founders or its team can get hold of. Thinking that, that will increase their chances of reaching out to more potential investors.

When someone receives the same message a few times, more than likely red flags be raised automatically that it gonna be spam then. That immediately diminishes any chances that you may have to even proceed to have a decent conversation with anyone keen to know more about your Startup.

Soln:

  • Get a common contact to do the introduction and then send the messages out.
  • Tag them in articles that you wrote and ask for their opinions.
  • Invite them to be on the mailing list.
  • Ask them questions on their posts.

Be smarter as you are up against the hundred of thousands companies seeking for funding.
