In our course of work, we always meet folks who want our services to help them to scale their business or to resolve challenging business situations.

We have charges for the man-days, as colleagues will be putting resources to it to research, study, discuss, analyze, strategize and even go on the ground to execute them.

So when the folks try to throw a spanner into the discussion that they will pay only when there are results. We will walk away.

“I Will Solve Your Problem And You Will Pay Me”

Why?

With no skin in the game to resolve the problems of your own, you are just passing the responsibilities to others with no commitments and able to just disappear or walk away when things don't turn out the way you want.

Stages of solving problems:

  • Step 1: Identify the Problem
  • Step 2: Generate potential solutions
  • Step 3: Choose one solution
  • Step 4: Implement the solution you’ve chosen
  • Step 5: Evaluate results

Resources will be invested into these 5 steps (and more) and all of these cost money, so when a client refused to see this as part of the investment to solve his own problem. He is not a client. Always walk away no matter how much commission, revenue share, branding, or referral he wants to offer.

Never take it.

You are opening yourself up to the client not being able to commit, changing direction, and even canceling the entire project without notice.

Get paid or just don’t start. There be no 2 ways about it.
