Do you have what it takes to be an Entrepreneur?

But why?

The answer to this type of question can only be answered over time. Lets’ say, we fast forward 5 years from now …. and yes, you are an entrepreneur. And no, you are not an entrepreneur. Does it matter in the first place? Maybe for those that are standing at the Start line if they should take a step forward but definitely not to those that had started walking into the unknown and trying their best to figure things out along the way.

To me, it is just a title. Something that some find it glory to have others addressing her as one. Or maybe a cool label to have that you are into the startup ecosystem, giving talks, hiring, got funded, made some mistakes, tell the entire world, and hope to get some points for just showing up.

The journey is tough, scary and most of the time you just winging it as if you been there, done that a zillion times. The truth? Many of us are still figuring things out as we walk along this path. It is one that always has me wondering late at night if I am making the right choice. What would life be if I took up that job offer instead of out there trying to fulfill my dream and digging deeper and deeper hoping that I am doing something right?

“When is the next payment coming in so that I can make salaries to my colleagues?”

“Should I take the bus or train instead of hopping onto a cab to the 7th meeting of the day?”

“Go simple on the meal for myself, bread, and the free bottle of water will do but a good treat to the person that may be able to lead me to talk to a potential investor.”

“If I do a disk utility on a daily basis, the laptop should run slightly faster, and hopefully it will not crash again.”

“Dad’s birthday coming up, let me get something that doesn’t say that I am running out of cash but yet able to show him that I love him.”

“A little sweat is okay under this sun, I just have to tell myself that this is part of the growing pain to be a great founder.”

“With a little kiwi on them, this pair of shoes should still look just as good for my presentations. Let’s save some money for a good decent meal to the people in the office instead.”

“Lets’ pick the earliest flight out and the latest flight back and sitting on the windows seat is okay as long as it is the cheapest. Same for the hotel too!”

All these don’t define you as an Entrepreneur but someone who took the road less traveled, you are making changes to your life and you are one step closer. You are great no matter what is the outcome cos you took the first step to make changes, to effect changes in your future.

Well done!
